Estimating the radiation dose of non-radiation workers from nuclear medicine patients
Introduction: As a valuable imaging modality, Nuclear Medicine (NM) indications is raising in clinical practice. The remained portion administrated radioactive material in patients’ tissues is a critical issue, especially when the procedure is performed in hospitalized patients, where the non-radiation workers present. The aim of this study was evaluation the dose of non-radia...
متن کاملRadiation dose to the nuclear medicine nurses
Background: People who have been administrated radiopharmaceuticals could be a source of radiation to their relatives, medical nurses, and people who are in contact with them. The aim of this work was to estimate radiation dose received by nuclear medicine nurses. Materials and Methods: In this study, the dose rates at various distances of 5 – 100 cm from 70 patients, who were administered diag...
متن کاملDesign and Development of Radiation Detectors for Nuclear Reactors
Several B lined ionization chambers with and without gamma compensation have been developed with cylindrical and parallel plate electrode geometry. These detectors have been developed after extensive studies on the optimization ofthe neutron and gamma sensitivities, the voltage /current (V/I) characteristics and the response of the detectors as a function of neutron flux. The reliability and lo...
متن کاملAssessment of radiation dose in nuclear medicine hot lab
Background: Hot lab is a specially designed room in a nuclear medicine hospital where the radiopharmaceuticals are delivered, stored and prepared for dispensing. 99Mo/99mTc-generator is the major source in the hot lab used for various medical imaging. It is important to maintain a standard for hot lab procedures to optimize the patient care and minimize radiation exposure to all nuclear medicin...
